Submitters can not crop thumbnails
« on: July 31, 2013, 02:53:14 PM »
I updated php to 5.3  and on submitting page there are no thumbs to crop. It starts with loading all thumbs and display a message to select a thumb, but there is no thumbs on screen to select.
I managed cropping to work in admin area, but it not helped with submit.php page.

Does anybody have an idea?

I'm just now getting a development server setup and installing the newly open sourced script.  This will be the first issue I look at when I get it going.

Are you using the new open source version and what version of PHP is on your server?

Thanks,
Chad

I too have the same issue on my site I see but I don't take submissions so It's not an issue for me at the moment.

I did try some fixes last night but was not able to find the problem. I am going to continue with it today so hopefully I will find it.

Thanks,
Chad

I've reached out to Jeremy on this.  I have spent all day trying to figure it out and I can't get anything to work. Hopefully he can point me in the right direction.

I could sware that I helped someone with this a while back and got it working.  Nothing I have done works nor it any of it jogging my memory with it.

Thanks,
Chad

Are you by chance hitting default max file size on your webhost?  If so you can adjust that in .htaccess

Doubt it.  Works fine in the admin area, just not for the users.

I was using another script that let people upload pics, I could upload any size file from admin, but had to adjust .htaccess for it to work for others.

All the images are downloaded into the cache directory when the user submits.  They are just not shown in the crop screen for whatever reason that I can't figure out.  Starting to drive me nuts a bit here...

Perhaps it's possible the file size is getting caught somewhere else in PHP?  For my problem with the other script I added to .htacess:

php_value post_max_size 250M
php_value upload_max_filesize 10M

Unfortunately, I have those set quite a bit higher than that and still have the problem.

I remember helping someone with this issue many months ago.  Don't remember who and don't remember what I did either.  Am fairly certain that changes were made to the script to get it going.

Wish I had other suggestions, I'm not a scripter. :)

I don't have TGPX set to accept submissions so haven't encountered the issue.

One other thought after reading the OP again... maybe the script has a problem with later PHP.  I've read you can force a script to use a different PHP version in .htaccess, not sure about earlier versions.  I would assume the earlier version would have to be installed as well on the server.

That is a thought I had. Install an older version of PHP but I think it is a security issue with the older versions.

One of my older servers had this.  You would use .php4 as the file extenstion to get it to run under PHP 4 instead of the system default 5.

Edit: And yes, you needed to have both php 4 and 5 installed to do it.

Didn't get a reply from Jeremy yet but I think I may have found the fix for it.  Found it in the JMB forum archives in a post from Jeremy with someone else having the same issue.

in includes/common.php find around line 1734:

Code: [Select]
if( @get_class($DB) == 'db' )

Change it to:

Code: [Select]
if( is_object($DB) )

I am loading a clean copy onto my development server to re-verify it now but I believe this is the fix.

Please confirm on your install.

Thanks,
Chad
