Extending the software
« on: December 16, 2012, 03:03:04 PM »
Now that Jeremy has called it quits on further development, is there any reason we can't extend the software ourselves?  I mean legal reason.  I am a professional software developer so I know I can do it...

I would think that, so long as we don't bypass the JMB licensing process, and we don't sell our changes...

Any thoughts?

I'm not a lawyer and I'm not pretending to be one...

As long as you stay with what you already said...  Don't sell the JMB code or bypass the license.

You should be able to sell your own code if you were to write a new feature or function. You would not provide any of the JMB code itself just your own stuff with instructions on where to place it in the existing files to add that new feature.

Again...  I'm not a lawyer but I don't see any issues selling your own code and telling someone where to stick it.  ;D

Thanks,
Chad
